This class is aimed at educating clients of Reiter Hill Johnson and Nevin on what they can expect at Sibley Memorial Hospital. The class will cover the process of labor and delivery, options for pain management, what interventions may occur and an overview of inductions, vaginal births and c-sections. In addition to information about Sibley, Nested aims to provide expecting parents with an adjunct education to Reiter Hill Johnson and Nevin in regards to signs of labor, stages of labor and resources for parents to learn about their pregnancy, delivery and postpartum concerns. This is a one-time 3 hours class that is focused on healthy mom, baby and a new family. $165.
Newborn Care and Infant CPR
Learn the ins and outs of newborn sleep, feeding, swaddling and diapering. This class summarizes common newborn issues including sleep patterns, rashes, feeding problems, signs of illness and much much more. This is an interactive class where parents will be able to learn how to carry, burp, soothe, swaddle and bathe newborns by practicing on life-like dolls. Parents will be able to learn infant CPR and choking rescue tactics and be able to practice and demonstrate using specialized CPR dolls. You will be prepared for virtually any newborn care situation at hand! This is a 3 hour course. $165.
A class designed for you to reach your breastfeeding goals. Review breast anatomy and techniques such as latch and positioning. Discuss milk supply, pumping and milk storage. We will also review the essential supplies for nursing and pumping. This class is taught by IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) educators who have years of experience in breastfeeding and maternal support. Our teachers are affiliated with Metropolitan Breastfeeding in Bethesda, MD, for continued follow-up as needed. 2 hour class. $120.
Keeping Calm with a Growing Family. Nest Steps is a two and a half hour class for expectant, new or experienced parents. Infants are welcome. This is a dynamic, interactive class designed for couples to build confidence and optimize physical and mental health. Couples will come away with resources to help them through major adjustments during and after pregnancy. With coping strategies, parents will learn how to gracefully transition throughout pregnancy and the first year of their infant’s life. By becoming empowered to learn steps in the prevention and treatment of depression and anxiety, couples will leave the class feeling stronger and more balanced. Going back to work was never easier with tips on preparation, setting boundaries, and how to achieve work/life balance. Parents will feel prepared to set boundaries and communicate effectively with their family and friends. For the experienced parent, the class will provide advice on how to successfully transition older siblings. Couples will ultimately feel more connected to each other and feel supported by other parents who share in the journey. Ultimately, parents will have a toolkit designed to nurture physical and emotional health of the entire family. Free!
